@virginia_casa volunteer advocates are amazing people, willing to invest their time to help children... and today, we want to highlight one of those amazing people, Stuart Enkey!Stuart has advocated for 10 children since he joined @henricocasa in 2021.Stuart's favorite CASA story to date was when he visited a teenager at his high school. 🏫 At that point, Stuart was still trying to build a relationship with the teen and not really sure where he stood:"I wasn’t sure we had really connected. I overheard him giving the counselor some grief about coming up to the office. The counselor mentioned that it was rude to keep Mr. Enkey waiting. As soon as he heard my name, his whole demeanor changed and he quickly walked in so we could talk. Virginia CASA's volunteer advocates are amazing people, willing to invest their time to help children... and today, shine a spotlight on one of those amazing people, Kim Parker! 👏Kim has advocated for six children over the last 3.5 years with Chesapeake CASA. However, that is not where her CASA journey originally began...💬"When I was a child a CASA was appointed to me during a custody case between my parents. I was placed temporarily with a person that did not have good intentions, and because of CASA's investigation, I was able to be with the family member that had the best interest for my health and well-being. Not only is she the first African American woman to be admitted to NASA’s astronaut training program in 1987, but Dr. Jemison is also the first African American female astronaut! On September 12, 1992, she flew into space aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavor.
